This year our two older kids are headed into third and fifth grades. Both are involved in a ton of activities and have also started hanging out at friend’s house after school…. as in getting a bit more independent. After much debate (and a lot of pleading from the kids), my husband and I have decided to allow our older two children to have their first phones just in time for back-to-school season so we can easily stay connected.
This will be a trial period – so we didn’t want to be locked into any contracts. We looked through several options and after doing some research, Walmart Family Mobile seemed like the perfect fit. There are a variety of unlimited plans and multi-line discounts to choose from, starting as low as $24.88 per month, but what made the most sense for us was the multi-line family plan. It includes two Truly Unlimited lines of talk, text and 4G LTE† data, plus 5GB of Mobile Hotspot on each line for less than $75 a month (Video typically streams at DVD quality). It’s month to month – so we can see how the kids do!
Walmart Family Mobile makes everything super easy. There are quite a few options for phones through Walmart Family Mobile (or you can even opt to use a phone that you already own.) We got two Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pros for our kids. These are perfect and very easy to use and set-up!
Some rules that we made – I set up their contact lists with just family members. If they want to add anyone else, they need to ask us first and we will add them. Also, we reserve the right to access their phone at any time. They do not have any passwords or locks on the phone – I can just pick it up and look. I really believe it is important to set up some rules before you agree to get your child a phone, just so everyone is on the same page.
I was so excited with how easy it was to set everything up – I decided to plan a Girl’s Night after dinner one day, and I invited some of my mom friends that I know are thinking of getting phones for their kids. I was eager to tell them all about Walmart Family Mobile and the multi-line family plan with two Truly Unlimited lines for less than $75. I figured after a long summer and with the school year starting, we could use some time to relax with some light bites and freshen up our manicures and pedicures. Plus I knew we needed to have some “mom talk” around how all of our kids are getting more independent and phones are coming into play.
It was so fun to catch up! After showing them the plans and phones, we all agreed Walmart Family Mobile was the way to go for the school year and beyond.
If you are ready to venture into the world of phones for your kids – I highly suggest heading to your local Walmart or visiting www.MyFamilyMobile.com to get started. The best part? There are no contracts or activation fees, so switching to Walmart Family Mobile is quick and easy – you just pick a phone, pick a plan, activate and go.
